After the Russians invaded Ukraine in 2022, my wife (Mary Epner) reached out to her friends on-the-ground in Ukraine to ask what she could do to help. She was asked to travel to Warsaw, Poland, where Help Ukraine 22 (now Help Ukraine Operation Operation Palyanytsya) was organizing logistics for refugees. The work assisted people leaving Ukraine, and internal displaced persons. In March 2022, she went to work in their office in Warsaw, with a field work on the border. When she went, she brought over $50k in medical supplies with her.
In 2023, Mary returned to Ukraine. This time, she went beyond the border, spending time in Lviv, Kiev and Bucha. She met with internally displaced people, and has been working on providing work to help regenerate the economy. She also got to spend a night in a bomb shelter in Kiev, when the Russians launched 50 missiles and drones at the city.
Help Ukraine Operation Palyanytsya just recognized Mary for her amazing work.
